Penn State World Campus is recognizing National Transfer Student Week from October 16 to 20. It’s a chance for us to take a moment and celebrate the diverse group of students who have transferred to World Campus. Many of our students are living full lives in addition to furthering their education, and we are honored to be by their side as they continue their journeys.
At Penn State, transfer credits may be awarded for college-level work taken at regionally accredited institutions, provided that several requirements are met. We asked students to share their transfer stories and experiences at Penn State World Campus.
Shaniqua Robertson was a first-generation college student at her previous institution. At that time, she was working three jobs and realized the load had become too much, so she decided to take some time off. A decade and an entire family later, “I wanted to show my children that it is never too late to accomplish a goal or dream.” Shaniqua now has four more courses to take before she graduates from Penn State World Campus.
Basel Nasri enlisted in the United States Navy and, after two years, decided to go back to school. It was important to choose a school that had great resources for active-duty service members.
“The moment I started attending Penn State World Campus, I received all the resources I needed to succeed. They provided me a counselor that shared my experience in their past military service, and it made my transition back to school seamless.”
Salenna Blanchette was nervous to go back to school as an adult learner because of the challenge of balancing work, family, and other responsibilities, and chose World Campus because of the support for adult learners.
“The advisers have made me feel welcomed and supported by assisting me with planning the best course plan while working full-time.”
In addition to continuing their education, many of our transfer students are living lives as parents, employees, veterans, and more. At Penn State World Campus, we celebrate the diversity of our students and are happy to continue supporting them in pursuing their goals.
