Penn State World Campus encourages you to join one or more newly created interest groups designed to help develop new student organizations. These organizations, led and maintained by students, provide a valuable opportunity to learn new skills and develop yourself as a student leader. As a group member, you will work toward several goals, including becoming a recognized Penn State World Campus student organization, and determining group programs, events, or advocacy.

Military Interest Group
Students with a military interest or connection should consider joining this group, which provides the opportunity to help create a supportive community for all military-affiliated students. Goals of the group are to eventually engage in advocacy, service, and programming for military students. Join this interest group via Microsoft Teams.
THON Interest Group
Since 1977, THON has raised more than $157 million for children and families impacted by childhood cancer. As the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, THON — short for Penn State Interfraternity/Panhellenic Dance Marathon — is a Penn State tradition. This group will work toward starting a THON student organization at Penn State World Campus. Join this interest group via Microsoft Teams.
LGBTQ+ Interest Group
Penn State World Campus LGBTQ+ Pride Club is a new organization for students who hope to make friends, learn about and discuss issues within the LGBTQ+ community, and participate in activities and advocacy through the group. The goal is for the organization to serve as a meeting place and a safe space for LGBTQ+ and allied Penn State World Campus students. Join this interest group via Microsoft Teams.

If these new clubs do not fit your interests or major, you are welcome to create an interest group of your own, with the help of Penn State World Campus Student Affairs. There are also a variety of existing student organizations that can help you connect with your peers, apply what you’ve learned in class, and make a difference.
