Thanks to the career librarian at UP Career Services, I learned a new way for Penn State students to learn about career paths using the Hoover’s Guide and LinkedIn. Here’s how:
- Step 1: Make sure you’re logged into LinkedIn.
- Step 2: Log onto Hoover’s Online via the link on the Business Databases page of the Penn State Libraries site.
- Step 3: Select the “Companies” tab and find your desired company.
- Step 4: Click your desired company link and scroll down their page. You’ll see a LinkedIn section that allows you to view the career paths of employees who have a LinkedIn profile.
Why would you do this? You can see how someone got to where they are professionally. And who knows, maybe you’ll connect and add some valuable contacts to your network.
