Several new minor options are now available to World Campus students, including a minor in Labor Studies and Employment Relations (LSER). World Campus academic adviser Julia Glover offers this information about the LSER minor.
Do you enjoy people, diversity, and organizational or social change? Have you thought about the impact of globalization on employees and the importance of justice in the workplace?
If you are interested in business, people and today’s work environment, you might want to consider an 18-credit interdisciplinary minor in Labor Studies and Employment Relations.
Your coursework will include 9 to 12 credits from Labor Studies and Employment Relations and 6 to 9 credits in areas like business administration, economics, management, political science, psychology and sociology. You can concentrate on a single discipline and relate it to labor studies or take a broad view and learn about a variety of viewpoints in the world of work. Six credits of your coursework will be at the 400-level but you choose the focus.
This would be a great minor to complement your major in Psychology, Organizational Leadership or Business! The world of work is changing. Give yourself an edge and a more flexible career path.
To be eligible for admittance into the labor studies and employment relations minor, you must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree as a current Penn State undergraduate student, have attained fifth semester standing or higher, and maintain a C or better in all the courses for the minor.
You may be able to use coursework from your major towards the minor requirements, so talk to your adviser today or check out the World Campus website for more information. You can apply for the minor by adding it in eLion. You should do this as early as possible but you can apply up to the late drop deadline of your graduating semester.
