3 Educational Benefits for Military Spouses

Penn State World Campus recognizes the unique sacrifice that military spouses make. Those who are married to military service members or veterans may often delay their own educational or professional goals to support their spouse’s military career. Frequent moves on short notice can also disrupt their career or education plans. We’ve compiled a few benefits that military spouses can access through Penn State World Campus to make reaching their own educational goals easier.

MyCAA Scholarship

If you are a military spouse, you may be eligible to receive up to $4,000 of financial assistance via a Military Spouse Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) Scholarship. This program helps military spouses pursue licenses, certificates, certifications, or associate degrees necessary to gain employment in high-demand, high-growth career fields. Penn State World Campus is a participating school, and our military support team can help you through the application process. Visit the MyCAA site to see which of our programs are eligible, and learn more about these programs on our website.

LinkedIn Premium Membership

LinkedIn and the Defense Department’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program have announced a new partnership that will provide military spouses with access to a free, one-year LinkedIn Premium membership each time they have a permanent-change-of-station move.

The membership also provides access to more than 12,000 online courses through LinkedIn Learning and access to a resource portal for military members and veterans. According to the DoD, LinkedIn tailored its offerings to create specific learning paths for military spouses, who might thrive in remote, freelance, or other flexible work situations.

Access to our Military Support Team

Military spouses, just like military dependents, active duty service members, and veterans, get unique access to the Penn State World Campus military support team as they apply to the University and become students. Trained professionals in a variety of departments from financial aid to advising to career services can help you navigate the admissions process and your journey to graduation.  This team can also assist you when a permanent-change-of-station or other move affects your education or career.
