Penn State alumna and former World Campus Psychology Club president Debra Mynar shares:

I was fortunate to be one of the few from my brand new degree program to make it to Penn State’s University Park campus for graduation weekend.

As a middle-aged mom, I guess I do not resemble the typical new Penn State graduate. Case in point: even though I was wearing a Class of 2010 t-shirt, people kept asking my daughters which one of them was graduating. In fact, someone went so far as to refer to me as unconventional. How perplexing!

Just like the typical new grad, I spent the weekend congratulating friends, celebrating my accomplishments with family, and reminiscing over how I have grown as a result of my college experience.

The past few years at Penn State have certainly taught me many things beyond the classroom — you are never too old to learn, to dream, to make a difference — this is the true Penn State tradition! My fellow graduates and I may not have met on the front lawn in front of Pattee, but we were AND are all still together, forever woven into Dear Old State…
